Tenix wins construction and installation of the Nausori Water Pipelines for the Water Authority of Fiji in May 2010.
This multi-million dollar project is complex and challenging due to variable ground and infrastructure conditions, plus requirements for traffic management, preservation of vegetation and erosion control.
The majority of works will be carried out at Nausori where Tenix will construct three pipelines totaling 6.5km in length, at different sites: the Wainibokasi Road 300mm nominal diameter uPVC Pipeline, the Raralevu 450mm nominal diameter Ductile Iron Cement Lined (DICL) pipeline and the Raralevu Village 300mm nominal diameter DICL pipeline.
To enable quicker delivery, Tenix will use gibault joints at both ends of pipeline sections spanning two pipe bridges. This will allow crews to work simultaneously at either end to ensure works are completed as soon as possible.
Tenix has worked on several projects in various locations throughout Fiji and is familiar with the Fijian culture and environment. Tenix Executive General Manager Jacob Bonisch says community consultation and environment management will be at the forefront of this project.
"Tenix will take every measure to ensure sediment is contained within disturbed areas as well as maintain all fence lines to prevent livestock straying. We will also provide a minibus service to residents from any upstream villages when public transport access is restricted during works," says Bonisch.
With completion due in November 2010, these works will greatly improve downstream supply pressure.
