Safety at Tenix Alliance

Within Tenix Alliance the safety of our employees, subcontractors and the public is our first core value. To demonstrate our commitment to this core value Tenix Alliance operates a fully integrated safety, quality and environment management system that incorporates the management of these risks as part of our normal business operations.

The risks are minimised by our comprehensive and consistent approach to safety, quality and environmental protection which has become a key element of our workplace culture.

The advantages of our integrated system include reduced duplication and improved efficiency, which lead to improved safety, quality and environment performance.  Tenix Alliance has achieved external certification of our management systems to Australian and international standards.  Certifications held are:

Our Environment

The Tenix Alliance Integrated Management System was first certified to the international environment standard ISO 14001 in September 2001.

As part of our certified management system each project undertaken by Tenix Alliance has a comprehensive and specific safety, quality and environment management plan developed, the plan includes control measures for the minimisation of all anticipated environment impacts.  Environmental conditions on sites are regularly monitored, with any concerns identified, addressed as a priority and feedback provided to all employeees and subcontractors. In addition each of our operational areas, offices and depots has a comprehensive aspect/ impact register developed including control measures, monitoring and assigned responsibilities.

Our Communities
Tenix Alliance is committed to supporting the local communities in which we work.

Local subcontractors and suppliers are given the opportunity to pre-qualify for works and expressions of interest are published in local papers in regional areas. Wherever possible local subcontractors are used to undertake the majority of works, with the only exceptions being for the supply of specialty equipment and services that are not available in the region. Local suppliers are also utilised for office supplies, hardware supplies and plant and equipment hire, and to provide IT support, recruitment of personnel and even design/drafting services as required.

Tenix Alliance has a focus on improving the skills and practices of regional local subcontractors. Training sessions outlining the safety, quality and environment expectations of Tenix Alliance are conducted.

In addition to supporting local business in the regional areas we operate in, Tenix Alliance is also committed to ensuring local communities remain informed of works we are undertaking in their neighbourhood. The community engagement program implemented as part of the Bega Valley Sewage Program achieved an average of over 93 per cent satisfaction ratings for community communication over the life of the program.

Sustainability
The goal of sustainable development is to "meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". In its entirety, a company's ability to manage sustainable development is measured by its economic, environmental and social impact on their stakeholders.

In the past few years, there has been an increase of awareness of sustainable development in the infrastructure industry. Government bodies and councils have started to include sustainability assessments as part of their project tenders; new rating schemes measuring environmental impact of buildings and other infrastructures are being adopted by developers, communities and construction firms; and businesses are gradually become more transparent in reporting on economic, environmental and social impacts.
